To clarify a few things, yes I am in bed and no I am not wearing pants. Pants are the enemy. The large red splotch on my nose? Credit for that sucker goes to the new medicine that is supposed to be helping my out of this acne-rut I've been floundering in for the last six years. Instead it's making me look like I've been spending a few too many minutes in the tanning bed.
Congratulations Ashley on a year of vlogs!

  1. Hi Genna! Stopping by from Girl Behind the Blog - and really felt compelled to tell you how much I can relate to your thoughts about being wrapped up in thinking about finances all the time! While I do agree that thinking about money IS 'material' - I do NOT think you should feel bad for thinking about it. As women, it is BUILT IN US to need to prepare and feel secure in most aspects of our lives. Men just don't have that feeling in their gut like we do. I am constantly thinking and planning, financially, for the future and it is NOT a bad thing! :) I love talking about personal finance and getting out of debt, so feel free to check out my blog & vid! :) Great to "meet" you!

  2. This is your 6TH link up?? That is awesome.. I love that you like watching these vlogs as much as I do. But, um.... WHAT do you mean you're not wearing pants? haha! It can be so hard when finances are weighing on us. You are right, it is material and we do need to guard our hearts against making it our God.

    1. Hahaha I cannot sleep with pants on and since I recorded this laying in bed obviously I wasn't wearing any!
In regards to the finance thing, it really is hard to fix my eyes on what I should be as opposed to what is in the now.

  3. I love that you actually admitted that you weren't wearing pants, seriously that was amazing HONESTY IS AMAZING! hahaha.
YAY for the new job, that is awesome and i know that it will be a blessing and i hope that it helps to relieve some of the stresses that have been weighing on your back.
I also know what you mean about money providing a sense of stability, but you are absolutely right you can't let that be your main focus and something that pulls you away from enjoying the present and what God has blessed you with!
<3 You can do this girl, i have faith in you!

    1. Hahaha I am so glad someone appreciates my strangeness. I was worried people would be like, "Omg, who is this girl who doesn't wear pants in her vlogs?"
This job could not have come at a better time and you are so right when you say it is a blessing. The Good Lord provided when I needed! But it is realllllly hard not to fix my eyes on the material things, especially with a new source of income.
Thank you, thank you, thank you a million times from the bottom of my heart for all your support!

  4. oh my goodness I can soooo relate to looking to money/finances for stability. It makes so much sense logically but you are right, money doesn't actually provide stability, the Lord does. With my current occupation I can get reeeally caught up in money and future finances and when you throw in the fact that I majored in finance in college it can really overcome me and suddenly my bank account is my savior. yikes. So all that to say, I can relate!!!
Also, I never wear pants when I'm alone. It's a part of my life that my friends don't understand. It's nice to know there are others like me ;)

    1. Money can be a blessing and a curse, but it's definitely hard not to focus on. And pants are for weenies so don't let them tell you otherwise!!! :)

  5. Dude, pants are so freaking overrated. If I could get away with not wearing any ever I totally would.

Money/finances - BLAHHHH. We have started doing the Dave Ramsey classes just to get back on track with getting things paid off. We're going to try and do the envelope thing for March. I am freaking terrified of it.

Yay for the new job! Also, you're totally adorables.

    1. I hate pants. Almost as much as I hate bras, which is a lot. Let me know how the envelope thing works cuz I was thinking about trying that as soon as I start my job. Thank you :)

  6. Haha I agree- pants are the enemy! If I didn't have to shave my legs I'd totally go without. ;)

I totally understand how hard it is transitioning into "adulthood"- whatever that means- and trusting God with finances. But I feel like it has really strengthened my faith to see how faithfully He provides!

hope you have a good week, girl!

    1. Fact: on top of not wearing pants in this video, I hadn't shaved for two weeks. Bahaha, fail.
He really does provide. I was at my wit's (and wallet's!) end and a day later I got a call for a job. Amazing, isn't it? Have an awesome rest of your week, Chelsea!

  7. I watched your whole video and wow...I'm totally with you. My husband and I just had a conversation about this a couple days ago, just talking about how I feel stable and safe when we have money in the bank and things paid off. Whereas he grew up in a very unstable financial situation so he is used to not having much in the bank. We are both hard workers and I know that we will eventually be ok, but being students and working through school is difficult! It stinks not having much to fall back on, but it's our Heavenly Father that helps us get through these things. Thanks for the reminder :)
I hope everything is starting to pan out ok for you. Usually when I make a list of things that need to be paid, and start making realistic goals it helps put everything into perspective and I don't stress out as much. Hope that helps!!
